ADVICE FOR P7 PARENTS – NUMERACY & LITERACY

Dear Parents,

I have put together a pack of numeracy and literacy resources for your child to work through during this period of unavoidable absence. The work in the packs will help pupils to retain the knowledge they have built up this school year and does not include any new learning. I hope this resource will be useful in keeping pupils engaged with their learning whilst off school and also allow for revision and reinforcement of previous learning. In addition, I have also included a list of websites that are useful for worksheets or interactive games.

The most important and useful activity to maintain is reading. Pupils may have some books of their own or have library books at home. In addition, I would recommend that other media such as newspapers or news websites be used as well as the literacy sites listed below.

In numeracy this break should be utilised to reinforce the use of the four main functions, especially for those pupils who have difficulty with quick recall of tables for both multiplying and dividing – www.themathsworksheetsite.com is especially good for generating all the worksheets you will need. If used alongside www.mathletics.com  all areas of the numeracy curriculum can be covered.

Finally, I pray that our entire school community stays safe over the period of this public health emergency and that we will all return to school in the near future.
